Our Founders

Sarah Forster
CEO and co-Founder

Sarah is CEO and Co-Founder of The Good Economy. She has worked at the forefront of finance for positive impact for more than 25 years, working in the fields of sustainable economic development, development finance, and impact measurement and management both internationally and in the UK.

Mark Hepworth
co-Founder and Director of Place Economics

Mark is a multidisciplinary economist and entrepreneur whose international career spans academia, public policy and business consulting. Mark’s work over 30 years has focused on innovation and new paradigms for economic development. He directs The Good Economy’s research and policy work on inclusive and sustainable development.

Sam Monger
Deputy CEO & Head of PBII and Strategic Advisory

Sam is TGE’s Deputy CEO & Head of PBII and Strategic Advisory and brings 30 years of experience developing, reviewing and delivering investment solutions from both an advisory and investor/developer perspective.

Andy Smith
Head of Impact Services

Andy leads on impact services at The Good Economy, working with clients to design impact measurement and management systems and deliver independent impact reports. Andy also led the development of the Sustainability Reporting Standard criteria – now being used by over 100 housing providers and lenders.

Sam Waples
Head of Analytics

Sam is a multidisciplinary geographer and highly experienced specialist in data and spatial analysis. Sam has worked in university and business schools and commercial companies. His innovative work on data analytics is integral to TGE’s impact services, economic strategy consultancy and Good Jobs analysis.

Amy Ingham
Real Estate and Residential Lead

Amy has over a decade’s experience in impact measurement and management in the UK and internationally. Most recently Amy led a performance improvement initiative for Homes England to support its new strategy. Amy has joined the Housing and Real Estate Social Impact team as a Senior Consultant.

Jenni Zietsch
Technical Lead - Impact Management

Jenni has over five years’ experience working across the impact investing spectrum with specialist expertise in impact measurement and management. As Technical Lead – Impact Management, she helps clients understand, measure and improve their impact.

Mieke Hallyn
Affordable Housing Lead

Mieke has a background in assessing the impact of charitable interventions on service users, as well as embedding high standards of data collection and management within growing organisations. She works primarily with our housing team, supporting clients to develop impact measurement and management systems, and driving best practices through collaborative projects.

Samantha Curtis
Emerging Markets Lead

Samantha is a finance and impact professional with fifteen years of experience working in both asset management and impact investment industries in the UK and Kenya. Sam works with The Good Economy’s emerging markets clients, supporting them to improve and integrate their impact into reporting and decision-making.

Lerato Marema
Senior Consultant

Lerato brings over 10 years of experience in the planning and development sector, having worked with both public and private sector clients across housing, commercial, energy, and leisure schemes in London and the wider city regions. She has a strong track record of delivering high-value and complex development projects.

Ben Rosoman
Consultant

Ben joined TGE having graduated with a first-class degree in International Development with Economics at the University of Bath. Today he is a consultant within the Strategic Advisory team.

Astrid Pedersen
Consultant - Housing and Real Estate

Astrid joined TGE following her graduation from the London School of Economics and Political Science with an MSc in Political Science and Political Economy. Her previous roles focused on developing resources for research and impact evaluation, and summarising evaluations and other evidence into digestible materials for policy makers.

Charlie Denney
Senior Data Analyst

Charlie has a background in international development and experience in designing development impact bonds focused on improving learning outcomes in developing economies. Charlie provides analysis and research for TGE’s clients.

Isobel Tan
Senior Impact Analyst

Isobel combines a background in development economics with an MSc in Urban Planning, bringing together interests in how people, places and the built environment interact. She is particularly focused on the social outcomes of planning and development, with a strong interest in socially responsive urban design and community-led planning approaches. 

Samantha Semanek Renninger
Senior Impact Analyst

Samantha is a Senior Impact Analyst at The Good Economy, where she provides research and analysis to help clients understand and manage their impact. Prior to joining TGE, Samantha worked in impact measurement and management as an independent consultant and at the U.S. Development Finance Corporation. She holds a MSc in International Development from Georgetown University.

Rangoli Gupta
Senior Impact Analyst

Rangoli brings a practical, evidence-led approach to assessing social and environmental impact. She has led research and strategy for climate and development initiatives across emerging markets, shaping programs that reach communities at scale. She holds an MBA from the University of Oxford.

Holly Harwood
Strategic Advisory Consultant

Holly brings a diverse public sector background, with experience in policy, organisational development, social value, equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI), and business case appraisal, to her current role as a Strategic Advisory Consultant at The Good Economy. She supports clients across the public, private and community sectors in delivering long-term economic, social and environmental value for communities.

Ella Kennedy
Impact Analyst

Ella is an Impact Analyst with a background in History. She has experience in ESG investing and provides research and analysis for TGE’s clients.

Grace Greenfield
Impact Analyst

Grace recently graduated from the University of Bath with a degree in International Development with Economics. She rejoins TGE as an Impact Analyst after completing a year-long professional placement with the team in 2023.

Jane Adams
Impact Analyst

Jane works from The Good Economy’s Bath office as an Impact Analyst, having completed her master’s in policy research at the University of Bristol.

Emma Rush
Operations Manager and Executive Assistant to CEO

Emma provides executive support whilst managing the daily operational needs of the business.

Ken Hart
Chief Financial Officer / Chief Operating Officer

Ken is The Good Economy’s CFO & COO. He brings 30 years of international experience across a wide range of professional services organisations within media and MedComs industries. He has worked in UK and abroad for both large listed groups and PE backed SMEs where his focus was on building high quality financial information for stakeholders, and supporting CEOs on all operational business issues.

Lindsey Garvey
Finance Manager

Lindsey recently joined The Good Economy as our Finance Manager, bringing with her nearly 20 years of experience as a qualified chartered accountant.

Associates

Mark Hallett
Associate, Regeneration

Mark is a highly experienced regeneration and sustainability specialist. He holds several NED roles including two Local Authority Asset Backed Dev Co’s and a leading RSL, and sits on the Design Review Panel for the Design Commission for Wales. He also holds a number of Special Advisory roles with a variety of place-based impact investors and stakeholders.

Paul Frainer
Associate, PBII

Paul brings over 20 years of cross sector experience across government and the private sector. He is a qualified urban and strategic planner, economic development professional and digital transformation specialist. Paul has led major change and digital transformation programmes across multiple services areas during his time in local and regional government and in recent years as a consultant.

Tim Francis
Associate, Real Estate

Tim is an experienced researcher and strategist, with over 25 years of experience working for advisory, investment management, institutional and development organisations in the real estate sector. Tim has a deep understanding of investment and social impact strategy development in real estate. He has conducted research on the topic for the Investment Property Forum (now RE:UK), and supported major investors including Grosvenor Property UK and The Crown Estate in the design and implementation of their social impact strategies.

Nicola Stephens
Chief Marketing Advisor

Nicky leads TGE’s marketing strategy, helping connect the firm’s expertise, thought leadership and client engagement activities with its commercial objectives. She works closely with the leadership team to strengthen the firm’s positioning, develop campaigns and content, support business development, and ensure marketing activity helps build meaningful relationships with clients and partners.

Sarah Sandbrook
People Director & Transformation Leader

Sarah is a People and Organisational leadership adviser with 30 years’ experience across IT, telecoms and professional services, providing strategic people advice to growing businesses.

Our Advisory Board comprises senior, well-connected leaders who act as ambassadors for TGE, providing strategic insight, industry expertise, and constructive challenge to help accelerate our growth and impact.

 


Jonathan Digges

Jonathan has spent over 30 years working in growth, restructuring and impact investing – rarely in straightforward situations. This has involved senior leadership roles on the company side at Mecom group, and on the financing side at both Lloyds bank and Octopus Investments where he was the Chief Investment officer for 7 years.

In addition to a hands-on role through Investment Committee, Jonathan has been an NED on wide range of Investee companies, varying in size, stage and complexity. He now holds a number of board, advisory and consulting roles, supporting businesses with a sustainability focus.

Mike Weston

Mike Weston brings over 30 years’ board-level experience in the UK pensions and investment management industries. He served as CEO of LGPS Central and the Pensions Infrastructure Platform, spent a decade as an independent and now professional pension scheme trustee, and holds a number of advisory and consulting roles.

Susan Hickey

Susan advises on strategies to influence flows of capital to social and affordable housing, including TGE’s work to enhance ESG and impact measurement and reporting for investors and housing associations. She has over 25 years of leadership in senior finance roles, including 10 years as CFO at Peabody Trust and now combines executive project work with several non-executive roles.

Mark Gregory

Mark’s career spans over three decades, with senior positions in both the public and private sectors. He is currently a Visiting Professor at Staffordshire University working with the local authority on their local growth and prosperity plan, and on taking local experience into national policy. Mark was previously the Chief Economist and a Senior Partner at EY and has been a member of multiple Government taskforces.
