Mark Gregory Appointed to the Board of The Good Economy

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mark Gregory as a non-executive director of The Good Economy. Mark brings a wealth of experience in economics, public policy and strategic advisory roles.

Mark’s career spans over three decades, with senior positions in both the public and private sectors. He is currently a Visiting Professor at Staffordshire University working with the local authority on their local growth and prosperity plan, and on taking local experience into national policy.

Photo of Mark GregoryMark Gregory was previously the Chief Economist and a Senior Partner at EY and has been a member of multiple Government taskforces, including the Covid-19 Recovery Taskforce on Investment. He was also Chair of the Community Ownership Commission where he led an independent investigation into community ownership and wealth creation. In addition, he has been a member of the BVCA’s Public Policy Panel since 2022 and more recently was appointed as non-executive board member and economist at the UK Enablement Board responsible for reviewing impact studies on how proposed changes in financial reporting might impact growth, investment and wellbeing.

During his time at EY, Mark was responsible for an extensive range of economic analysis and strategic assessments of investments including proposed UK trade deals as a Member of the DIT Trade and Investment Advisory Group on Investment, mergers and acquisitions, debt restructuring and city-region deal bids. Mark was a recognised expert on foreign direct investment working with the Scottish Government, where he advised on a new strategy for promoting Scotland to investors, and cities and regions across the UK.  He also led EY’s economic and social impact work for a range of organisations including the Premier League.

Earlier in his career, Mark held the position of Global Head of Strategy & Business Development for the Wireless Sector at IBM Global Services Telecommunications Sector, having started his career as an economist at PwC.

Mark’s appointment to The Good Economy’s Board further strengthens the company’s credentials as one of the world’s leading impact advisory firms.
